Text: James1:19(KJV)
Wherefore, my
beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Friends, the word of God is always giving us the
best advice. So, before we respond to any conversation, let’s learn to pause. There
is need for spiritual maturity in which when we cultivate, it will help us to
enjoy a life of peace. We are in our world driven by opinions, without logical
thinking, but the scripture above urge us to be patient in speaking because
people often speak more than they listen. We need to learn the attitude of
understanding first before speaking and reacting to avoid regrets. Let’s get
the meaning before your suggestion by paying full attention. It is a sign of
humility. Eccl. 5:2 Be not rash with thy mouth and let
not your heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and
thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
It is important to be calm and digest your words as
we acknowledge that you don’t have all the answers. But, when we are slow to
speak it makes us to weigh our words first before it leaves our mouth. Proverb 10:19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not
sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. Remember, words spoken cannot be taken back.
It can either heal or hurt, encourage or destroy, so it is vital to weigh
words. This is a proven principle that helps to speak with grace and avoid
unnecessary conflict in the society. I pray we shall walk with thoughtful response
as we the speak truth, necessary and kind words today in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT:
Oh Lord teach us to listen patiently as we count our words before
speaking to avoid damages but we shall speaks words that will build others up in
Jesus name.
