Text: Isaiah 42:8(KJV)
I am the LORD: that is my name:
and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images
Friends, we must be careful not to consume or
claim the glory due to God. Hence, we should not use for ourselves the honour,
praises and recognition that belongs to God alone. Let’s learn to guard our
words, actions and even attitudes because many out of excitement are eating the
glory of God. Psalm 115:1 Not unto us, O LORD, not unto
us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.
Also, people can applaud you into this danger but we must be intentional to
give God all the glory. Remember, God is at work daily in our lives but
unfortunately, many are claiming the glory and credit due to Him for self. We must
be careful not to assume the achievement and begin to wear the reward of His honour.
But, we can give back the glory to our majesty in thanksgiving and worship
today. It is His grace and not our strength that is at work in us and has
brought us thus far. 1 Corinthians 1:29-31 That no
flesh should glory in his presence.
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and
righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is
written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
We can see the case of King Herod who accepted
the praise as if he is god, and God struck him down as he was eaten by worms because
he gave not God the glory. Nebuchadnezzar is another warning trigger as he
lived among beasts for seven years and lost his sanity. So, it is dangerous
both physically and spiritually because it is like stealing the crown from the
king. Romans 11:36 For of him, and through him, and to
him, are all things: to whom be glory forever. Amen. We should not begin
to feel good and assume the glory for that great result. But, remember, every
gift, talents, success, achievement are from God. John
3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. Therefore, we are warned not
to share His glory for another new lifting is coming to you today in Jesus
name.
PRAYER POINT:
Oh Lord help us to put on humility as to point people’s praise to
God and not self-pride as to avoid self – glory to those victories in Jesus name.
