Prayer of Enquiry

 

Text:2 Kings 3:11 (KJV)

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may enquire of the Lord by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

 

Friends, a time comes in our lives when we need to seek wisdom and guidance from the Lord on what do. Yes, we go through situations that we need to deliberately ask from the Lord, the way forward. Remember, we can no longer depend on our know-how because it can disappoint you at the most critical moment. So, with prayer of enquiry you get to seek a specific instruction on what to do. Hence, as believers we have access to the mind of God concerning bugging issues. It is not about making request rather asking questions from the almighty as He is not just a prayer answering God but also a question answering father. This is how to get direction for complete deliverance just like David did when he was faced with Amalekites that raided the camp. He has to enquire of the Lord on what to do. I Samuel 30:8 And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

Amazingly, when Ahaziah fell down in his upper room too and was sick they sent a message to go and inquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether he shall recover. But, Elijah said unto them is there not a God is Isreal that they will go to enquire from. And today, many are still enquiring from other gods without seeking the way from the living God concerning matters of their lives. Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." — Jeremiah 33:3.  So, I encourage us to seek direction from God both, in career, relationship, financial matters, ministry etc and God will answer us speedily and specifically in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT:

1.       Heavenly father, may we learn to enquire from the Lord instead of our logic, emotion and other people’s advice that has affected us negatively today in Jesus name.
