Text: Mathew 16:26(KJV)
For what is a man
profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what
shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Friends, we are faced daily with a choice which
will yield either victory as we follow with Jesus or defeat as we follow with
Satan. We must remember that light brings about glory as we know on the other
part, darkness brings about destruction, Therefore, we cannot expect gain
walking in the path of sin with Satan because the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 For the wages of
sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord. So, for us to enjoy this eternal gain that may seem narrow but several
gain of peace, joy, honour etc we cannot toy with the quick reward of pleasure
of sin because sin pays it’s servants with shame. For instance, Judas Iscariot
follow greed to betray Jesus that brought shame but Danial followed God in
Babylon and enjoyed honour with promotion. Philippian
3:7-8 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ…
that I may win Christ. Mark 8:35 For
whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life
for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.” So, follow Christ
for gain, follow Satan for shame. The choice is yours.
Interestingly, our salvation is a free gift with
full package on physical and divine benefits. Hence, there is a crown of glory
awaiting the believer as we keep up our followership with Jesus. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might
have it more abundantly. Friends, we cannot gain the whole world and
partake the beauty and glory with the good shepherd. So, I encourage us to
choose Jesus for a life of gain today and reject shame with the ultimate end of
damnation in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT:
Oh Lord, help us to follow Christ for salvation and victory over
sin with eternal inheritance and not the few moment of gain with temporal
promises with Satan in Jesus name.
