Text: Isaiah 1:19(KJV)
If ye be willing and
obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.
Friends, it is one thing to obey but it is
another thing to obey willingly. So, willful obedience is beyond following
instructions, rather we must show the right attitude in our journey of
obedience. Psalm 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O
my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. It should happen as a
thing of joy and not by compulsion because it can be an obedience to His
calling. We should not allow half-hearted submission to
the will of God. God does not encourage forced compliance to His will. Hence,
we need a heart of readiness with quick response to God’s agenda with great
excitement. Therefore, we should learn to obey God out of love which is built
out of trust that brings about willful obedience to God’s leading. The life of Abraham
is an example of a willful obedience both his departure from his home country
and the sacrifice of Isaac. 1 Sam15:22 Behold, to
obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
Interestingly, it is a genuine love for God that
will make us to weigh his instruction higher than our personal desires. Col.3:23 And whatsoever ye
do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. There is an
attitude of obedience that yields unending result and so it comes with a
joyful, cheerful, praiseful heart of obedience. 2 Cori
9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not
grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. This
lifestyle requires obeying not out of fear or grudge but with joy in our heart
to God’s will. So, as we obey today, doors of blessings shall be open to us in
Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, help us to make haste and not to delay in keeping your
commandment willfully in Jesus name.
