Text: Genesis
32:24-32(KJV)
Vs 24 And Jacob was
left alone: and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. Vs
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of
Jacob’s thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled
with him.
Friends, we get to a turning point of
our lives where we are left alone just like Jacob from the scripture above. He
was burdend by the past and fearing Esau because of uncertainty of the future.
So, he wrestled with the angel of God all through the night until the daybreak.
Gen 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more
Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and
hast prevailed. He needed a change of life for a blessing. Hence, it
requires us persisting in prayer, surrendering our
strength, and seeking transformation from God as we get broken in His presence.
Yes, it is a picture of the heart that refuses to let go until
it has receive God’s touch, favor, and new identity. And today as we wrestle in
His presence, we go from self-reliance to God-reliance which brings about
sustainable transformation on every side. And Jacob’s name was changed from a
supplanter and deceiver to Isreal. And God is changing you for a blessing just
like he did to Jabez and enlarged the coast.
And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and
enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest
keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that
which he requested.
Amazingly, Jesus also taught us not to give up in
praying just the widow in Luke 18:1-3 And he spake a
parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to
faint; Saying, There was in a city a
judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in
that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. Thus,
as we wrestle in prayer, it strengthens and weakens, breaks and rebuilds,
humbles and exalts. I pray we shall not quit in prayer rather wrestle with
faith in our pursuit in life no matter the delay. Today, we need this mark of
brokenness and humility that brings about lasting change in the altar of
intercession. Therefore, wrestling with God for a blessing means holding on to
Him in prayer until something shifts. I pray we shall persevere with God for a
change in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, give me the strength to hold on to You in times of struggle as
you teach me not to let go until I receive the blessing. I yield to your
separation and brokenness today in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE: Remember, your
wrestle and struggle may leave marks, but they also will release
destinies.
