Text: Romans 12:10(KJV)
Be kindly
affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one
another.
Friends, there is a possibility
to see people through God’s eye as a way to value men. Yes, we need to
cultivate this virtue of honour where we treat people with great respect and
value. In so doing, we also embrace self honour from all works of life. It is a
life of a believer that cannot be covered but seen by our actions and
inactions. Exodus 20:12 Honour
thy father and thy mother; that thy days may be long upon the land which the
Lord thy God giveth thee. It is a placement that we can give
to God, to others including parents and also to self even in this world where
we are detesting value but embrace pride which is taking the position of
humility and honour. Proverb 15:33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction of
wisdom: and before honour is humility. Remember, it is in giving honour to others
that we receive honour too.
Amazingly, embracing
honour come as we recognize man as an entity made by the image of God and
therefore man should not be disregarded nor trashed as nothing. Romans 13:7 Render therefore to all their
dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom: fear to whom fear:
honour to whom honour. However, let’s choose to prefer
others as a way to appreciate and reflect the love of God to us. Remember,
Jesus as our role model honoured God in all as well as served humanity in His
journey here on earth. And this brought Him honour as He was given a name above
other names that every knee bow of things in heaven, things in earth and
beneath the earth. Therefore, let’s embrace to honour people in words, in
actions and in our attitudes as to create an atmosphere of love and unity today
in Jesus name.
PRAYER
POINT:
1. Oh Lord,
teach us to honour God with our lives as we speak with grace and not to tear
down in communication in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE: Friends, you can honour God and man with your time,
your talents and your treasures.
