Text: 1 Samuel 1:11 (KJV)
And she vowed a vow, and said,
O Lord of hosts, if thou
wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not
forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I
will give him unto the Lord all
the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
Friends, vows made in prayer
altar are sacred commitment to God. Therefore, do not bargain at all rather
keep all to the later. So, we must get to a point of solemn promise in which the
vow is to God in the place of prayer. Deut 23:21 When thou shalt
vow a vow unto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the Lord
thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee. Yes, it is a declaration that provokes answers
and great result because it is realm of desperate and deep longing as we connect
to divinity. It is a moment of sincerity
with heartfelt level in prayer. Unfortunately, many believer don’t seriously
keep to the promise when the answers come and the situation changes. Remember,
it is not an empty word and must not be forgotten as it provokes heavens
attention. Genesis 28:20-21 And
Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way
that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So
that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God.
Amazingly, there is a vow of
trust that comes with public affirmation as a promise to God. We can see that
Hannah made her vow in her state of barrenness as she was in bitterness of soul
and her adversary provoked but she prayed and vowed unto God. And God answered
Hannah and truly she returned her son to the service of God at the dew time. I
pray we shall be careful not to break the vow because there are consequences if
not fulfilled. Eccl 5:4 When
thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in
fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. I pray God will show us
mercy where we did not keep to our vows in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT:
1. Father,
may we not get to the belly of the fish like Jonah before we make and keep our
vows as a generation in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE: Remember, you can revisit to honour the promise as to
keep your vow.
