Text: 2Samuel 9:3 (KJV)
And
the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the
kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son,
which is lame on his feet.
Being grateful to people is one virtue that is fading in this
generation. Have you noticed that help and assistance is no longer valued? But
the truth is that although being unthankful is part of the end-time syndrome,
there are still some individuals in the world who are trying to make help
common. We have an example in the Bible, David, he asked, is there not yet
anyone left in the family line of Saul that he could show the kindness of God
to for his friend’s (Jonathan) sake? Wow,
how nice of him. The truth is, a show of affection is an honour and
appreciation that we should give to someone who has rendered any form of help
to us. It is vital to express gratitude to whosoever have shown any form of assistant
to you, whether physical, spiritual, emotional, financial, academic etc. God
will always arrange the assistant to fulfill His mission. The lame son of
Jonathan was in Lo-debar, which meant a place of “NO PASTURE, NO WORD, or NO
COMMUNICATION”. It was a desolate and forgotten place, it was also similar to
the statement Nathanael made in John.1:46- And
Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Despite
all the limitations, circumstances, and conditions of the disabled Prince
(which was not his fault), it became a turning point for his miracle.
Do not join others to write off yourself. You can be that
midwife who will assist others in their birth, only position yourself at your
duty post, so you can fulfill your task. The King’s servant, Ziba was used as a
vessel to fetch for the lame son, Mephibosheth, in that deserted place. Your
location may be in a remote place, but when it is your due time, you will be
located by the King, in Jesus name. The help he got cannot be paid back, but
instead, he fell on his face in deep respect as an honour to David. This became
a turning point in his life, and we can see furthermore in the scriptures that
the King David returned all the properties which belonged to him as the
grandson of Saul; he even began to eat at the King’s table continually. Wow, what a story or should I say a
testimony! The truth is what Mephibosheth received is much more bigger than
his physical status, but I am reminding you today that there is always
something you can offer despite your condition, whether it is small or big. I
tell you, a little help can cover your weaknesses and can give you honour, so
do not write off yourself.
In 1Corinthians 10:24- No one should
seek their own good, but the good of others. Most of the time, we want
to live well because of God’s grace and generosity, but this scripture tells us
also to make an effort to help others live well. We should be grateful to
others, especially the less-privileged; also, always remember, you are serving
God with that single act of service you are doing, do not wait for that seed to
become big before you are thankful. Those who are strong among us should lend a
hand to those who are weak among us; we should leave our comfort zone and ask
ourselves, “HOW CAN I HELP?” This action made is also creating an unending
platform for generational blessings. Jonathan act of showing affection to
David, was enjoyed by Mephibosheth several years later. You may not know who
will appreciate your good deeds or when. Just show gratitude to others, despite
their age, gender, race, title, or class. Gratification is a seed everyone
enjoys; it is a positive lifestyle that we should develop in this present world
of unthankful attitudes, so make a difference today and do not forget the past
helps.
PRAYER
POINTS:
1) Holy Spirit, please help us not to follow the trend of
negative happenings in the world but to be thankful in Jesus name.
2) Oh Lord, help us to recognize minimal services rendered to
us by others and appreciate all, in Jesus name.
3) Father, may the good seeds of our fathers begin to pay for
us, and may we also transfer that kindness to our generation, in Jesus name.
4) Father, may our helpers always locate us speedily in our
very time of need, in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE: Do you know someone sowed the seed of that kindness you are
enjoying today? So do not close the road.
