The gift you did not earn

Topic: The gift you did not earn

Text: Ephesians 2:8-9(KJV)

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast

Friends, a lot of people think that salvation is something they earn by their effort. They try to be good enough naturally, pray hard enough, give enough, or work enough to deserve God’s acceptance. No, but the bible makes it clear that salvation is not a reward for effort rather it is a gift from God to humanity.  John 14:6 - I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto thee but by me. The biggest error is one striving to earn what God designed for free to happen. We are the receiver and so this gift is not paid by you but God paid it all. It is 100% freely given by the giver. Hence, our salvation is not based on perfection but based on His love to man. Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Interestingly, the price of our salvation was paid in full right on the cross. So, let’s express gratitude to the giver of this life giving gift to humanity. Don’t struggle to earn it, so no one can boast because salvation is by grace. Titus 3:5 - Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us. Therefore, our part is to accept Him, believe Him and confess Him as Lord by reason of what He has done. God then declares to us, just come as you are and Christ will make you. So, when you understand that salvation is a gift, pressure turns into peace, fear turns into faith, and struggle turns into surrender. Therefore, let’s stop trying to impress God and start trusting Him at all times for the full salvation package in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT:

Oh Lord, continue to train us by grace to live right, not careless in all adventures for our salvation is a gift not works, in Jesus name.

ACTION QUOTE: Remember to walk confidently, knowing your salvation rests on Christ, not on your perfection.
