Text: Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV)
Brothers
and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one
thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I
press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me
heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Friends, when we know the prize ahead, we will
do all to align with heavens mandate for our goals. Hence, we have to press to
reach the end of the race because the award will speak at the end. It is a high
calling from above and cannot be compared with man’s reward in any way.
Therefore, we should learn to forget the past failures and hold unto the daily
little wins. Isaiah 43:18-19 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. Behold, I will
do a new thing… So, pressing forward means refusing
to remain stuck in
yesterday’s pain or successes, but we must choose to move toward God’s purpose
with determination and faith in God. Remember, it is not about perfection; it’s
about progress which may be crawling, walking, running but just don’t stop
because every step counts. However, purpose requires movement. Every time you
stop, destiny pauses with you but we shall keep pressing forward. Psalm 37:23-24 Though he
fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholds him.
Amazingly, it is important we release
old failures, disappointments, guilt, heartbreaks, and mistakes. This is
possible as we daily look at the perfect law of liberty to access the wisdom
keys for our prize. Isaiah 40:31 They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall
mount up with wings as eagles…You cannot drive forward while
looking in the rear-view mirror. Remember, our eyes are in front and not at the
back, which makes looking backward is distracting to the goal set before us.
Therefore, focusing on what lies ahead of us today should be our attitude to
win the prize of eternity in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, give me the strength to always see the joy set before me
and not the wound and discouraging situations today in Jesus name.
ACTION
QUOTE: Remember, to push through tiredness and discouragement by trusting God
to break the chains.
