Text: James 1:25(KJV)
But whoever looks intently into the perfect law
that gives freedom, and continues in it, not forgetting what they have heard,
but doing it, they will be blessed in what they do.
Friends, the act of obedience to God’s word is not
a burden rather it is a gateway to true and sustainable joy to living. It is a
life changing principle but unfortunately many see it as a restriction to their
will. So, when we walk in obedience to God’s instructions, joy flows naturally
as it is a way to perfection and a journey to an ending peace. Hence, true joy is
not dependent on circumstances rather it is rooted in the assurance that we are
pleasing God by walking in His will. Psalm 112:1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that
feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. Therefore, as we obey His word it brings real
fulfillment which attracts divine favour and blessing in life and ultimately,
we live a joy filled life. But, when we obey mechanically and not in love by
revelation, it diminishes our joy. Isaiah 48:18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my
commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the
waves of the sea.
Amazingly, real joy is found in absolute
surrender to the will of God and not in rebellion to His instruction. Proverb 26:18 Where
there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is
he. If you spend time to reflect on the past glory that came as a
result of the joy of obedience, you will keep up the glimpse of joy which
magnifies into greater flow of joy by a willful act of obedience. I pray we
shall choose to obey even in small matters today as to keep intact our joy in obeying
God’s word in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, help us to overlook fleshly desires and walk in obedience with
exceeding joy like men of old in Jesus name.
