Text: 1 John 2:12-13 (KJV)
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
From our text of today, we were addressed in different ways, little children, young men and fathers. In all of these ways, we were known as God’s people, but what make the difference is our different levels of maturity and encounter. The truth is, it is your attainment to spiritual maturity that determines your level and experience in this Kingdom. But the questions we should ask ourselves are, how long have we been in the Lord and how many lives have we impacted to new level of spiritual growth? Remember, spiritual maturity is a faith leveler. We should be sincere with ourselves and this will help us to understand the need for growth. We must be sincere to identify and address our area of weakness because there are still some areas where we are behaving as little children. We need to move into this new level of spiritual maturity through the help of the Holy Spirit. Frankly speaking, we cannot remain at the same level and expect to do wonder instead, we need to grow so as to get to the dimension God has placed us in. Our growth and maturity is not by age or experience, instead it is possible by feeding on the Word daily and by allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us. 2Timothy 2:15-Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. The scripture has all the capacity to build us up into maturity but we have to take responsibility because we have a part to play.
It says in Acts20:32- And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. This means we need to yield ourselves to the Word of life because it is able to build and nourish our lives into maturity. 1 Peter 2:2- As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.
The word has all the capacity to build our spirit, soul and body, we just need to spend more time in His presence, so as to see its transformation in our lives in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Oh Lord, open my heart to receive the engrafted word and help me to live by it, in Jesus name.
2. Father, help and transform us from glory to glory with readiness of mind so as to receive the Word daily, in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE: What is driving you into spiritual maturity and not babies?
