Text: Hebrews
9:14(KJV)
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who
through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your
conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
The Friday proceeding Easter Sunday is the crucifixion of
Jesus on the CROSS. It is a Good Friday because we are celebrating our sin free
life as his death was a sacrifice which we received for our eternal life. In
this journey of life, there are some behavioural patterns which we cannot stop
by our efforts but his death did it. 1Peter2:24 “He
himself bore our sin” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins
and live for righteousness, “by his wounds you have been healed.” Even with
all the efforts and tips we still end up fighting with those patterns, but here
is the good news, due to the death and the blood of Jesus, we can be free from
those patterns because His blood purges our conscience from every dead works;
this results in us being new in Christ. The dead works we are discussing today
entails carnal things which can never please God and the reason for this is,
because they are not spiritually minded and are against God’s commandment. They
are fleshly things which are enmity to God and they result in us being away
from God. Romans 8:8- So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
The amazing fact is, our
involvement with Christ takes away every condemnation because of the old life
of walking after the flesh. So this means all those guilt and condemnations
which are hindering our service are dropped. The life that we have with Christ
makes us no more slaves to those
dead works.
Remember, if there are dead works that means there should
also be good works. And Christ is the originator of good deeds. Be encouraged
because He has purged our thoughts and imaginations, so that we can yield good
products. Proverbs 16:25- There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the
end thereof are the ways of death. Those dead works leads to destruction while good works leads
to life and peace. The cross of Jesus has redeemed us; without it all efforts
are worthless. Ephesians
1:7- In whom we have redemption through his
blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace. So always remind yourself that the blood of Jesus is the only and best
cleanser and it makes one blameless and spotless, SO ACCEPT THE BENEFIT OF
THE CROSS TODAY.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Thank you Jesus because the result of
His death changed the course of humanity and purge us from dead works and cloth
us with good deeds in Jesus name.
2. Father, open our eyes to continue to
enjoy the total benefit of the cross as our inheritance in Christ in Jesus
name.
ACTION QUOTE:

all and don’t live like a debtor.
