Text: Acts 10:2 (KJV)
A devout man, and
one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and
prayed to God alway.
Our scripture of today talks about a man called Cornelius; we can see
in the text that he was described as a man who believed strongly in God and was
a God-fearing man. Not only that, but we were told that he also prayed to God
always. It says in Luke 18:1- And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that
men ought always to pray, and not to faint. The
question is, if Cornelius who was a Gentile prayed always, then what excuse do
we have for not praying always? Many of us make a lot of excuses which might be
valuable to us, but we need to come to an understanding that having a
consistent prayer life is a vital key in this kingdom and we must develop it.The
fact is, the moment you have finished praying, you will ask yourself then why
was it so hard before, and by the help of the Holy Spirit you will understand
that there was something that made it hard, which was you were lazy. It is just
as simple as that. Many believers are so lazy and this is why we find it hard
to have a quiet time of fellowship with God. The truth is, prayer is not as
hard as it seems, we just need to start with baby steps.
Firstly, we need to let go of that laziness and say “In Jesus name” with
sincerity in our heart. After that, we need to bring our thoughts and feelings
to God with openness and also subject our imagination to God’s will. The
openness of your heart will allow the Holy Spirit to do His work as He helps
you to pray even better. When we go extra mile with God He goes extra
mile to meet us up at our point of need. Many people are looking for quick fix
and shortcuts that is what is affecting our consistency on the place of prayer.
By following this steps and with the help of the Holy Spirit, you will
be able to maintain a consistent prayer life, and also you will be able to pray
anywhere and everywhere. Ephesians 6:18 (ERV) - Pray in the Spirit
at all times. Pray with all kinds of prayers, and ask for everything you need.
To do this you must always be ready. Never give up. Always pray for all of
God’s people. Let the blessings of God not ease your
prayer life putting you into convenience. Beloved, it is when we are blessed we
should even pray more as to sustain the presence and grace of God. We need to remember, prayer is not just about seeking God’s face for
24 hours, but it is being in a constant tone with heaven, and also understanding
that prayer as communicating with God as a father and as a close friend. My
brothers and sisters, prayer can be sweet, we just need to let go of that
laziness so as to experience its flavor.
PRAYER POINTS:
1.Oh Lord, I ask for grace to be disciplined as to develop a
consistent prayer life,in Jesus name
2. Father, regardless of the abundant blessing bestowed upon me, may I
still glue to a lifestyle of prayer in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE: You can return to
the place of intimacy just like when you gave your life to Christ.
