Our Good Shepherd

Text: John 10:3 (KJV)

To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

We all know that when robbers come to steal, they always force themselves into a house by other means instead of them coming through the main door because they know that they are strangers, but the shepherd always walks through the gate confidently. Doesn’t that amaze you? The action of walking through the gate is a sign of confidence, and that also shows that you have a relationship with the owner of that house. The same goes for us as believers. For us to enjoy a long-lasting experience in this kingdom, we need to go through this one door, which is the good shepherd (Jesus). John 10:9- I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. Amazingly, not only is He the door, but He is also the way, the truth, and the life. John 14:6a- Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. That means, although He has opened the door, He will also direct you through that door.

The truth is, there are some uniqueness about this shepherd, and we see that in our scriptures. From our text above, we see that He knows His sheep by its name. Jesus has so many sheep, and you can imagine He knows each and every one of them, including you and I by our names. Wow!!! What a great shepherd. The amazing part is that if one sheep goes astray, He goes after it. Isn’t that amazing? Also, this good shepherd guards 24/7, and we see that in Psalms 121:4 - Behold he that keepeth Isreal shall neither slumber nor sleep. I tell you, there is more to what He does for His sheep, and the only thing we are meant to do as His sheep is to follow Him. John10:27 - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. This tells us, you and I have to be familiar with His voice, and we have to clearly understand His instructions. We have the great privilege of being His sheep, and I will encourage you not to abuse it, instead avoid unnecessary distractions and focus on Him. God will help us, in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINTS:

1.Father, please gather us from where we have been scattered to your place of green and abundant pasture, in Jesus name.

2. Oh Lord, may I not be too busy or distracted when you are calling your sheep in Jesus name.

ACTION QUOTE: Do not try to help God; He knows the best place of pasture.
