Text: 2 Kings
6:5 (KJV)
But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the
water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
A time came
when the company of the sons of the prophets, which resembles us, as Christian
believers of today, went to Elisha with a desire for enlargement. That is
similar to us going to seek the face of God concerning a matter. I know all of
us have various reasons for seeking the face of God, but we all have one thing
in common, and that is an expectation for recovery or a restoration, and we saw
an example in our text of today. We see that the first thing they did was they
asked for counsel, and this is one thing we fail to do. 2 Kings
6:3 (ESV) - Then one of
them said, “Be pleased to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I will go.”And we see
further down, and they encountered a situation with the axe head falling into
the water, which tells us there is no miracle our God cannot perform. Remember, they were on the right assignment
with a host of angels walking with them, but they desired to step out for
greener pasture. They had the wisdom to enquire from the man of God, Elisha,
and their request for his prayers was answered. Not only that, they still
wanted him to follow them, which is teaching us the idea of fellowship and
communion in any environment we find ourselves.
Certain
times, the situation we are going through seems ineffective and completely
frustrating. Sometimes, it looks dead, but relax, because they are coming back
to life today, which will lead to the outbreak of the supernatural even in an
impossible issue. Luke 18:27- And he said, The things which are impossible with
men are possible with God.Them losing the axe head made all effort
useless, but thank God for his presence, because he went with them without them
knowing what will befall them on their way during that trip. This is why we
always need to seek the face of God before we embark on any journey, and we
should never forget to do that.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Oh Lord, may every impossibility
be made possible, in Jesus name.
2. Father, may every axe in our life
break into pieces, in Jesus name.
