Give Me This Mountain

Text: Joshua 14:12 (KJV)
Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.

Friends, at eighty-five years old, Caleb did not ask for comfort, retirement, or an easier assignment. Instead, he boldly requested the very mountain occupied by the Anakites, the giants of the land. Caleb understood that God's promises are not fulfilled by human strength but by unwavering faith and obedience. He was confident that the God who had preserved him for forty-five years would also empower him to possess his inheritance. His declaration teaches us that faith does not run from challenges; it confronts them with confidence in God's unfailing power. David expressed this same confidence when he said, Psalm 23:4 - Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me". Likewise,  Paul declared, Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". These scriptures remind us that God's presence and strength are greater than every obstacle we face.

Every believer has a mountain to conquer. For some, it is fear, sickness, financial hardship, family struggles, ministry challenges, delayed promises, or the pursuit of God's purpose. These mountains may appear impossible, but they are opportunities for God to reveal His power and faithfulness. Remember God's promise in Zechariah 4:7 – “Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain..." No obstacle can stand when God goes before you. God also assures us in Isaiah 41:10 - "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee..." Therefore, do not allow fear, doubt, or delay to stop you from pursuing what God has promised. Like Caleb, choose faith over fear, courage over comfort, and confidence over compromise. The same God who gave Caleb his mountain is able to give you victory over every challenge that stands before you, today in Jesus name.

Prayer Point:

Oh Lord, give me the courage to face every mountain before me. Strengthen my faith to trust Your promises, and grant me complete victory over every obstacle in Jesus' name.

Action Quote: Remember, every mountain that is surrendered to God becomes a testimony of His power, faithfulness, and victory.
