Seeing Jesus in the Storm

Text: John 6:20 (KJV)
But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

Friends, life sometimes brings unexpected storms that shake our hearts with fear and discouragement. Yes, we may find ourselves struggling against strong winds and moments we do not fully understand. Yet, the beautiful truth is that Jesus comes near even in the storm. While the disciples were afraid, Jesus appeared walking on the troubled waters and spoke peace to them saying, “It is I; be not afraid.” This reminds us that no storm is greater than the presence of Christ. Psalm 46:1 declares, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Sometimes the storm may not stop immediately, but when you can see Jesus in the middle of it, fear loses its power. The presence of Jesus brings assurance that you are not alone and that your situation is under His control.

Interestingly, storms often become the moments where we know Jesus more deeply. In calm seasons, it is easy to trust God casually, but during difficult times our faith is strengthened and our eyes become fixed on Him. Isaiah 43:2 says, When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee.  It doesn’t mean you will never face waters or storms, but He promised to be with us through them. Therefore, do not focus only on the waves around you; focus on the Savior above the waves. Mark 4:39 tells us that Jesus rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, “Peace, be still.” The same Jesus who calmed the sea is able to calm your troubled heart today. No matter the storm in your life, financial pressure, fear, disappointment, sickness, or uncertainty, Jesus is still near. I encourage you today to lift your eyes above the storm, recognize His presence, and trust His power, because when you see Jesus in the storm, you will discover peace that cannot be shaken, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Point:
Heavenly father, help us to keep our eyes on God in every storm of life and fill our heart with peace and courage through Your presence, in Jesus’ name.

Action Quote: Friends, when you see Jesus in the storm, fear fades away because His presence is greater than every wave.
