It Is God on Our Side

Text: Psalms 124:1 (KJV)

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say.

Friends, one of the greatest blessings in life is having God on our side. The psalmist understood that victory, preservation, and deliverance were not achieved by human strength alone but by the help of God. Many battles we survive are not because we are strong, wise, or capable, but because God stands with us. There are dangers we never saw, traps we never noticed, and attacks we never understood, yet God protected us from them all. Exodus 14:14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Therefore, we must never take His presence and protection for granted. Life without God’s help leaves a person vulnerable, but when God is on your side, you can face every challenge with confidence and hope. Isaiah 43:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Interestingly, God being on our side does not mean we will never face difficulties, but it means difficulties will not destroy us. The children of Israel encountered enemies, wilderness experiences, and impossible situations, yet God continually fought for them. When Pharaoh pursued them at the Red Sea, God made a way where there seemed to be no way. Also, David defeated Goliath because God was on his side, and Daniel survived the lions’ den because God remained with him. This reminds us that the presence of God changes outcomes and turns impossible situations into testimonies. Romans 8:31 says, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” Therefore, no opposition is greater than the power of God working on behalf of His children. Therefore, let us walk boldly, knowing that God is fighting battles we cannot see and making ways we cannot imagine. With God on our side, victory is certain in Jesus name.

Father, may you continue to fight every battle against my life and help me to trust completely in Your power and protection in Jesus name.
