Text: 2 Kings 6:16 (KJV)
And he answered, Fear not: for they
that be with us are more than they that be with them.
Friends, there are moments in life when you feel
exposed even surrounded by challenges, opposition, or unseen battles that seem
stronger than you. In such times, it is easy to feel defenseless and alone. But
the truth remains: as a child of God, you are never without divine protection.
You are not defenseless. Just as Elisha reassured his servant when they were
surrounded by an enemy army, God is reminding you today that there is more
working for you than against you. Hence, it doesn’t mean you won’t face battles
but in all you are equipped and covered in those battles. God’s presence is
your shield, His word is your weapon, and His power is your defense. Psalm 18:2 declares, “The Lord is my rock, and my
fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my
buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” So, your
safety is not dependent on your strength, but on God’s unfailing protection.
Even when you cannot see it, heaven is actively defending you.
Interestingly, spiritual defense often requires
spiritual awareness. In the story, Elisha prayed that his servant’s eyes be
opened to see the heavenly army surrounding them. Many times, fear comes
because we only see the physical situation and ignore the spiritual reality.
But when your eyes are fixed on God, fear loses its grip. Isaiah 54:17 assures us, “No weapon that is formed against thee
shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou
shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their
righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.” This is not just a promise but it
is your security. Therefore, refuse to
live in fear or intimidation but stand firm in the confidence that God is your
defender. Therefore, walk boldly knowing that you are covered on every side.
You are not defenseless as you are divinely protected. And I pray that in every
situation where you feel vulnerable, God will open your eyes to see His power
surrounding you, and strengthen your confidence in Him in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Points:
- Lord, help us to walk daily in the
confidence that we are not defenseless as God is our shield and defender
in Jesus’ name.
Action Quote: Friends, never
forget that God’s protection surrounds you, and His promises sustain you.
