Courage in His Strong Presence

Text: Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Friends, we have been called to live a life of courage, not because challenges will not come, but because God is always with us. Though, people try to gather courage from their own strength, achievements, or the approval of others, but true courage flows from the assurance of God’s presence. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.  When God commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous, it was not a suggestion, it was a divine instruction backed by a powerful promise: “I am with you wherever you go.” This means our courage is not self-produced; it is God-enabled. Just like a child becomes bold when holding the hand of a parent, we too become fearless when we are conscious of God’s presence. Courage grows when we trust that God is ahead of us, behind us, and within us. Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.  This assurance removes panic and replaces it with confidence. Therefore, we must deliberately choose courage by leaning on God through prayer, declaring His Word, and walking by faith. His presence is our greatest advantage in every battle.

Though fear may try to rise in uncertain moments, but we must remember that God has already gone before us. Psalm 27:1 says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” When God is your light, darkness cannot overwhelm you. When He is your salvation, defeat is not your portion. So, no matter what stands before you today, choose courage. Stand firm in His promises, trust in His nearness, and move forward boldly. I encourage us to remain strengthened, fearless, and victorious at all times in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points:

  1. Oh Lord, fill our hearts with divine courage and remove every spirit of fear in Jesus’ name.
  2. Father, help us to walk boldly in the confidence of Your presence every day in Jesus’ name.

Action Quote: Remember, when God is with you therefore courage is not an option, it is your identity.
