Text: Philippians 4:18 (KJV)
But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received
of Epaphroditus the things sent from you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice
acceptable, well pleasing to God.
Friends, generosity is a kingdom principle and it
is a charitable lifestyle that is so pleasing to God. It is a life of sacrifice
that makes one to show kindness and give to others freely. In the scripture
above the Apostle Paul expressed gratitude for the gifts sent by the believers
in Philippi. 2 Corinthians 9:7 – God loveth a
cheerful giver. Yes, despite being in need himself, Paul recognized that
their generosity was not just material aid, but a spiritual sacrifice pleasing
to God. So, it is important that we learn giving in love and in obedience that glorifies
God. Therefore, when we give sacrificially with our time, resources, or talents,
it becomes an offering that God accepts and blesses. God’s blessings are not
limited to financial abundance; giving also produces joy, gratitude, and
spiritual growth. Luke 6:38 - Give, and it shall be given unto you; good
measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give
into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be
measured to you again. So, generosity is a
container filled beyond its capacity. It means God rewards Godly generosity
abundantly, not sparingly. So, give
willingly and joyfully, today.
Moreover, it is more blessed to give than to
receive. It is clear and it shows that a heart of gratitude with an open hand amplifies
the blessing. He acknowledges the gift as an “odor of a sweet smell,”
symbolizing the pleasing aroma of righteousness and obedience to God. Proverbs 11:25 - The liberal soul shall be made fat: and
he that watereth shall be watered also himself. I pray God will give us
a generous heart and help us to give freely so that our lives will experience
overflowing blessings because as we sow bountifully and liberally and not with
a selfish heart, we shall reap also bountifully in Jesus name.
Prayer Points:
- Oh Lord, give us a generous heart that will give willingly,
knowing it is pleasing to God in Jesus name.
- Father, bless the works of our hands as we sow into God’s kingdom
and use our resources for Your glory in Jesus name.
Action Quote: Remember, generosity is more than giving but it is a
worship that opens the door to God’s blessings.
