Text: Colossians 2:16-17(KJV)
Let no man therefore judge you in
meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the
sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Friends, it is very common to be caught up in the celebrations, the
lights, the gift, the entertainment, and traditional celebrations. They can
pose as distractions if you are not intentional to maximize the Jesus in the
season. So, we should not allow that to shift our focus from the central reason
for the season which is JESUS Himself. Jesus is more than the lights, music,
and festivities which has taken over most part of the society. He is not
limited to a day, a month, or a season. Hence, His presence, love, and purpose
extend all year round and to eternity.
Hebre13:8 - Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and
today, and forever. The Christmas season points to Him that is why there
is need for reflection before it is completely abused, as our relationship with
Christ is not a seasonal adventure.
Amazingly, it should be life
transforming season, as we live beyond the calendar and remain in a life of
faith, gratitude and obedience to God. Psalm 16:11 Thou
wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right
hand there are pleasures for evermore. We should enjoy continual
reminder every day and not seasonal rather learn to place Him first as the main
focus for the season. However, I encourage us to carry this attitude of
prioritizing Christ over festivities and celebration, as our faith is not
seasonal but daily faith engagement that brings about fulfillment of destiny in
Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT:
Lord Jesus, help me to see beyond
the season and embrace Your love as my Savior that makes my life a reflection
of His light in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE: Remember our daily
devotion in worship and prayer shows that honoring Jesus is a lifestyle, not a
seasonal activity.
