Text: Proverbs
3:11-12 (KJV)
My son, despise not the
chastening of the Lord;
neither be weary of his correction: For whom
the Lord loveth he
correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
Friends, it takes
daily practice for us to experience inner and lasting transformation that
brings the result we expect. Yes, that sinful habit can be broken by commitment
to discipline. Hence, you need to be consistent over time to achieve a conduct
by exercising oneself. Discipline therefore is the training we need daily for
us to enjoy unhindered pursuit to God’s will and His agenda towards our destiny. Proverbs 12:1 Whoever loves instruction and discipline
loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof and correction is
stupid. We need
this commitment to discipline as to live a godly life by adhering to our
routine activities. It all starts from our minds as we are being transformed by
drilling to achieve our set goal. Discipline is that effort put together for us
to remold and correct our lives in a life time. Today, the good and honest
characters does not come at once but are developed by disciplinary measures
over time. However, we should remember that this is not our salvation
experience that came to us by grace. 1 Timothy 4:7 But refuse
profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
Amazingly, we do this
by memorizing, meditating and practicing the precious truth that are hidden in
the word of life as to enjoy rest. Proverbs 29:17 Discipline your son and
he will give you happiness and peace of mind. You can now see that
old and sinful nature can be transformed as we form a new habits by developing
patterns and new lifestyle for a changed self. Yes, just as physical training
is needed for our fitness to healthy living, so it is with our spiritual health. Psalm101:2
- I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me?
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. Therefore, let us
discipline ourselves into creating a plan for prayer, study, fellowship, etc. Hence,
it makes it possible for us to grow even in this kingdom by training ourselves
for bible reading schedule. Let’s therefore, train ourselves as to achieve that
great goal today with the virtue of discipline as it is very possible by
training. And this is how the image of Christ can be formed in our lives in
Jesus name.
