Text: Ruth 1:14-15 (KJV)
And
they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law;
but Ruth clave unto her. And she said, Behold thy sister in law is gone back
unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.
Friends, which one are
you, cleaving or leaving? Indeed, the life of Ruth was a typical example
of one that clave to glory. Though she went through adversity in the family but
at the end, it was a glorious fulfillment as she stick together with Naomi her
mother in law. Ruth
1:18 When she saw that she was stedfastly minded
to go with her, then she left speaking unto her. So, to cleave is an attitude that
turns shame and disgrace to glory. Yes, we can count several storms and famine
they passed through as a family, but she did not turn back. But, the act of sticking firm and strong
despite the circumstances, brought them the testimony at the end. Ruth left all
to follow Naomi, while her sister in law, Orpah kissed Naomi and turned back.
Where are you today?
Amazingly, the lifestyle of persistence is a tool we need if
we must clave through the storms of life. It goes beyond physical attachment to
soul-tied intimacy that can last for ages. Hence, Ruth had a soul-tie
relationship with a decision never to go back. Romans
8:35- Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or
distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? There
are so many things in this world that can separate or divide us from our close
relationships with people and ultimately to God, but in the case of Ruth, she
was steadfast and determined to go with Naomi despite the circumstances
involved; she had her heart set on the covenant promise. I pray this is an
attitude we should all follow with our God. So, I urge you to choose and cleave
right, because there is glory ahead in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT:
1. Father,
please guide and strengthen us in the phase of adversity as to hold on to our
saviour in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE:
Remember to cleave to the end because your glory is
sure, if we avoid distractions.
