: Be rooted in Christ

 

Text: Colossians 2:6-7 (KJV)

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him. Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Friends, our journey with Christ is a process as to get to that point of establishment and a lifestyle of thanksgiving. The good news is that, it all starts from receiving and having a union with Jesus as our Lord and personal saviour. It is seen by our reflection of His character daily. It is at this point we embrace His principles as we are sealed by grace, then we need to walk continually with Him as we move and live in Him.  1 Thess.4:1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. But for a continuous relationship we need to be deeply rooted in Christ and not a shallow experience. Remember, there are floods of life that blows away people’s faith but when we are rooted and grounded you will stand the test of time.  Indeed, our depth of intimacy will determine how much we can build up as well as bear precious fruits of righteousness in this kingdom.

Unfortunately, there are issues of life that we need to beware of lest they influence our walk and deep intimacy with God.  Also, we are in a pressured society where men are spoilt with vain deceit after the traditions of men. Also, we must be careful with the rudiments of the world which is not after Christ in all ramification but carnally minded.  But, as we have determined to walk with God, let our root grow and go down in Him as to produce fruitful lifestyle that will become a positive influence to our environs. Eph.2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord. I encourage us to get ourselves rooted to the doctrine of the scriptures in Jesus name

PRAYER POINT:

1) Oh Lord, help us to walk with Christ by building our tap root in the word to God as to be stablished in the faith with joy in Jesus name.
