Text: 2Samuel 9:3 (KJV)
And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul,
that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king,
Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet.
Although being unthankful is part of
the end-time syndrome, some individuals are trying to make help common as
kindness is fading away. We have an example in the Bible, David, he asked, is
there not yet anyone left in Saul's family line that he could show the kindness
of God to for his friend’s (Jonathan) sake? Wow,
how nice of him. The truth is, a show of affection is an honour and
appreciation that we should give to someone who has rendered any form of help
to us, whether physical, spiritual, emotional, financial, academic etc. God
will always arrange the assistant to fulfill His mission. The lame son of
Jonathan was in Lo-debar, which meant a place of “NO PASTURE, NO WORD, or NO
COMMUNICATION”. It was a desolate and forgotten place, it was also similar to
the statement Nathanael made in John1:46- And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good
thing come out of Nazareth?Despite all the limitations,
circumstances, and conditions of the disabled prince (which was not his fault),
it became a turning point for his miracle.Do not join others to write off
yourself. You can be that midwife who will assist others in their birth, only
position yourself at your duty post to fulfill your task. The King’s servant,
Ziba was used as a vessel to fetch for the lame son, Mephibosheth in that
deserted place.I tell you, a little help can cover your weaknesses and can give
you honour, so do not write off yourself.
In 1Corinthians 10:24- No one should seek their own good, but
the good of others.the scripture tells us also to make an effort as
to help others live well. We should be grateful to others, especially the
less-privileged; also remember, you are serving God with that single act of
service you are doing, do not wait for that seed to become big before you are
thankful. Learn to ask “HOW CAN I HELP?” This action when made creates an
unending platform for generational blessings. Jonathan act of showing affection
to David was enjoyed by Mephibosheth several years later. You may not know who
will appreciate your good deeds or when but just show kindness. Just be
grateful to others, despite their age, gender, race, title, or class. Gratitude
is a seed everyone enjoys, so do not forget the past helps.
PRAYER POINT:
1. Father,
may the good seeds of our fathers begin to pay for us and may we also transfer
those kindness to our generation, in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE:Remember to invest in yourself as to show someone kindness daily as seed for your lineage.
