Text: Joshua 24:15 (KJV)
And if it seem evil
unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether
the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or
the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house,
we will serve the Lord.
The truth is, many people have chosen
different gods, but we as His children have chosen to serve Him. Although we
have decided to serve Him, we still need to focus on Him, and this is the area
where many of us fall short off. We may think that is not true, but the
question is, what is the first thing you look to in either a good or bad situation?
Definitely, if it is for good, some people might say, “God, thank you”, while
some might be too eager to tell their friends and family first, but when it is
for bad, they all run to God first; we need to change this attitude. Think
about it; your focus should be on God first, whether in a good or bad time. We
need to develop the habit of keeping our eyes on God, and in so doing, His
nature unconsciously rubs on us. Keeping our focus on Him also makes our
thoughts fixed on Him, and we end up not struggling to get help from Him. Psalms 121:1-2-I will lift up mine eyes unto the
hills, from whence cometh my help.2 My help cometh from
the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
We need to learn to focus on God and not on the problem or adversities
around us, and this tends to the hard part as His children, but God wants us to
rely on Him. We should not be distracted by the storms and happenings of this
world, but instead, we need to put our minds on the positive things, which we
need His grace to see them. No matter your
efforts, you cannot attract the worth we enjoy being around God and focusing on
Him. Colossians 3:2- Set your affection on things above, not on things
on the earth. Amazingly, as we keep our eyes on Him, He
eventually enhances our value, and we end up dancing around Him, which makes us
a celebrity among men with attraction. I urge you to check your heart always so
as to define your direction. God will help us, in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Father, please help our eyes to always look ahead directly on God’s
divine nature in Jesus name.
2. Oh Lord, please help us to set our minds on the things of the
Spirit and not the flesh, in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE: Do you focus on God first in every matter or you go to Him as plan “B”?
