Text: Daniel 2:23 (KJV)
I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my
fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now
what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's
matter.
When you wake up in
the morning, what do you do? I believe there will be diversities of answers,
but there is one thing which is the right thing to do, and that is giving thanks
to God. Many at times, people think or say to themselves, “I will thank Him
later”, but we should form the habit of thanking Him the moment we open our
eyes. I do not mean prayer, but I mean saying the statement “God, thank you” with a genuine and
sincere heart; after this statement has been said, then prayer follows after.
The truth is, God is so merciful, and He is ever ready to fight our battles.
This great and mighty God does not sleep or slumber. He literally does not
close His eyes for a millisecond, because the moment He does, the world will be
upside down. Psalms 121:4- Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor
sleep. We are surrounded by a lot of good things in our
lives and we need to be grateful for that because He is the originator of all
good and perfect things that we are enjoying today. James
1:17- Every good
gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of
lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
The mistakes people
make in our world of today are: firstly, we underrate the happenings around us and
we basically term them as “little”, but the truth is we cannot create any, and
it is evident that it is not by our efforts, so we should give praise and thank
God to who praise is due. John 15:5b- For without me ye can do nothing. The other mistake is that we generalize thanks. God does innumerable
blessings, and they are done one by one and not in a group (generally), so we
are meant to thank Him for those single blessings. Be very specific in thanking
God because most times we under appreciate Him. Psalms 103:2- Bless the Lord, O my
soul, and forget not all his benefits. We are meant to
recollect and count all our benefits and not only asking God for more. Let us
learn to also thank Him for the blessings one by one. All we just need to do is
to think and thank Him again at any moment you reflect about God’s goodness. Remember,
we are enjoying His mercies today, and it is not by our merit, so we should
make it a ritual or a lifestyle of thanking God at all times. Amazingly, when
things are not going well, let us thank God, because in your thanking Him, that
your situation will change to good. 1 Thessalonians 5:18a- In everything give
thanks.
PRAYER POINTS:
1.Oh Lord, please
help us to see the hand of God and not man’s act as to thank God better in
Jesus name.
2. Father, may I
live a life of gratitude to You at all times, not only when You have done a new
thing, in Jesus name.
