You are not the same

 

Text: 1Peter 2:9 (KJV)

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Can you see that the reality of our personality is amazing if we look closely at the text above? You are identified as Priestly, Peculiar even Chosen. If I asked you, what is the meaning of these identities? I know there will be various responses, but all those responses have something in common – uniqueness that means you are not the same. The truth is when God created us, He deposited a unique attribute in each and every one of us. In our text above, He called us peculiar, royal priesthood which means we are special beings with new identity. Due to all of this uniqueness in us, we are treasured, which means we have great value in us. We need to carry ourselves with this mindset as people called out from dark identity into a marvelous identity. WOW!! In Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) - For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. We are told that we are God’s masterpiece living by His image, and that shows that we are different from others and different from our former self.

Interestingly, we accepting to follow Christ have even made our uniqueness more special. In 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! We see that because we accepted Christ, we are a new creation and this new us has light which illuminates our vicinity, and whenever it is present, all forms of darkness turn to light. Ephesians 5:8- For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. We must remember Psalms 139:14- I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. So do not underestimate the beauty of what God has called you. Many of us try to hold unto the old us which is ignorant of our reality, but it is time we let it go so as to exhibit our new identity fully. I pray God will help us, in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Father, thank you for bringing us into your glorious liberty and navigating us into an extraordinary lifestyle in Jesus name.

2. Father, thank you for making a difference in us because we are not the same but peculiar by nature in Jesus name.
