Text: Genesis
25:31-33 (KJV)
31And Jacob said, Sell me this
day thy birthright.32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the
point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?33 And
Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his
birthright unto Jacob.
Do you know there is an inheritance in
you that the enemy is fighting to possess? In our world of today, we see a common
character in the individuals where they sell off their birthrights in different
fields of life. These birthrights are sold off in various forms like as rights,
entitlements, gifts, talents, etc. Surprisingly, people have made it a way of
life all for the sake of money and fame, but it is not meant to be so. The
truth is, every day we wake up, it is another opportunity for us to regain
whatever we have lost, but instead, we sell it off. These birthrights are our
possessions from birth, and it has been given to us because it will be needed
in the future. There are blessings given to us from the Father, and He has a
reason for it because He has a plan for us, and these blessings are meant to
enhance those plans. Jeremiah
29:11- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith
the Lord,
thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
The truth is that physical desires
like food, money, fame, etc. are only for a moment, so we should ask ourselves
this question: What happens after I have gained this temporary desire? Who
would have thought that only for food, Esau would have sold his generational
blessings? Many have carelessly sold off their inheritance just because
of gain and hunger of today which kept many stranded. May we not dispose what
will make our next generation to struggle for life? We should not sell them off because of
temporal benefits and satisfactions. Romans 9:12-13- It was said unto her, The
elder shall serve the younger.13 As it is written, Jacob
have I loved, but Esau have I hated. We must be very careful to know what we are signing off and
also when we are taking such destiny molding decisions. We should not forget
tomorrow’s gain and blessings all for today’s desires because once we take that
decision, we cannot reverse it, but instead we become slaves for life. Although
God is merciful to His own, we should value our birthrights. I pray God will
help us, in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINTS:
1.LORD, please help me not to
compromise because of that little pottage of today in Jesus name.
2. Father, I regain all the
inheritance that I have lost through our Saviour Jesus Christ, in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE: Can you imagine the loss of yesterday’s compromise as against
the generational blessings of tomorrow?
