Text: Genesis 39:21 (KJV)
But the Lord was
with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the
keeper of the prison.
The life of Joseph is a
case study as we can see that the Lord showed mercy to him and in all the
battles of life he saw himself in, he had victory. Mercy can answer for us even
before the keepers of that very prison situation. It is so great to see Joseph enjoy mercy to
the fullest because it is a driving force for us as believers. Mercy makes
us to enjoy compassion in place of punishment. The beautiful part is that the seat
of mercy will always give you victory no matter what storm or wicked plot
against you. This tells us that this seat of mercy can grant anyone who is
connected to it divine access. In Acts 7:9- And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was
with him. We see in this scripture that God was with Joseph and we also saw that in
our text of today. And this tells us that you having a deep relationship with
God grant you a great privilege which is, He is also with you and when God is
with a man, they enjoy blessings and mercies in abundance.
Interestingly, in the world today, we
need mercy more than ever because the challenges and obstacles of life are so
numerous and unpredictable, but it is God’s mercy that can preserve and exempt
a man from all of those things. Hebrews 4:16- Let us therefore come
boldly unto the throne of Grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to
help in time of need. We must strive to gain access to God’s heart and to find favour
in His sight, and in so doing, we will enjoy the benefits of sitting on that
seat of mercy. So I encourage each and every one of us to settle in His
presence, so as to enjoy God’s mercies to the fullest. Always remember Proverbs 16:7- When a man's ways please the Lord, he
maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
