Text: 1John1:9 (KJV)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The truth is life on its own is filled
with mistakes, but from the mistakes we should learn and grow more. There is a saying “experience is the best
teacher”. Those experiences may either be good or bad, and they are usually as
a result of our decisions. I tell you,
making a mistake is not bad, but dwelling in that mistake is the problem. From the text above, we are told to confess
our sins to God. Amazingly, people are
willing to admit their mistakes and faults, but due to them admitting those
faults to the wrong people, it makes them go back to that mistake, and an error
that is repeated more than twice has become a lifestyle. We need to cultivate
the habit of confessing our mistakes and faults, basically sins to God. I tell
you, sin is dirty, and it is what destroys our sweet fellowship with God. As
believers who have accepted, believed, and confessed Christ, we have been given
access by his grace, which we must treasure. Sometimes, we may fall out of His
grace due to sin, but we need to confess to Him all our wrong doing and purify
ourselves again by allowing Him to cleanse us. Psalms
51:2- Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Thankfully, we have a great privilege, and that is when we go astray
and confess our sins to the master sincerely, He actually advocates on our
behalf to the Father to forgive us. 1 John 2:1- My
little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man
sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. This is a great privilege, but we should not
take it for granted. Although we were born into this world with sin, but due to
us accepting Christ as our Saviour, He has exchanged that Adamic nature and has
given us a new garment. That means old things are passed away and behold all
things have become new. Jesus did all of that on the cross by his bloodshed.
So, I encourage us to confess those secret sins which we feel we are hiding
from God. He sees all and has forgiven us
already therefore let us hide ourselves under the cross as we put on the
garment of righteousness which is Jesus.
PRAYER POINTS:
1.Thank you Jesus because we have an advocate who is standing by us at
all times, in Jesus name.
2. Father, we confess every unrepentant sin that the enemy is still holding
against us, in Jesus name.
ACTION QUOTE: Admitting your mistakes is the first stage of change.
