Draw near to Jesus

Text: James 4:8 (NKJV)

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

There is a saying, who you follow determines what follows you, and I believe this saying is so practical. For example, if you follow a bad company definitely negative reputation will follow you; if you follow good company, automatically good, positive, and blessings will follow you. The same goes for us as believers. If we follow and draw close to God, He will also draw close to us, and I tell you, you following Him bring a lot of blessings and testimonies your way. Matthew 6:33- But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Our text of today also tells us not to be double-minded in our walk with Jesus, and that is a reality we must follow. We cannot serve two masters at a time or say we want to taste waters. Matthew 6:24a- No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. We need to develop a deep and single-minded relationship with God and in so doing His promises become a reality in our lives because this can affect our commitment to optimal service with God. Also, this brings us to deep worship, deep experience with deep revelation and purging away of sin as we draw closer to God.

It says in Hebrews 10:22- Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. And that means we need to have a sincere heart, which tells us we need to make an effort to be closer to Jesus. The truth is, the closer you come to Him, the more blessings and benefits you receive from Him, and that cannot be done in a distance or casual relationship; it has to be in a heart-to-heart relationship. So I urge you to keep drawing close to God and never give up, always study and meditate on the Word of God with prayers, so as to control the flesh. I pray God will help us at all times, in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINTS: 

1.Father, please, I want to be where you want me to be, so as to draw closer to you, in Jesus name.

2.Father, please help us to develop a deep relationship with God, so as not to be far from our source, in Jesus name.

ACTION QUOTE: The impact of your deep relationship with your parents as a developing child is less than the relationship God wants us to have with Him.
