The Word as our Delicious Meal.

Text: 1Peter2:2-3 (KJV)

As newborn babies, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

We will start with the testimony of the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus saw her and asked her for water, she said she is a Samaritan, as they do not associate with the Jews. Jesus answered, whosoever will drink the water that I will give, will never thirst again. It will become a spring of water gushing like a fountain forever. At the end, because of this encounter, her life never remained the same.

Have you ever realized that the Word of God is the most delicious meal? I will explain what I mean. We know that once a child is born, the first meal is breast milk, and you must have realized that they crave for it because that is the most delicious meal for them. Medically, it is known that breast milk contains substances that improve the baby’s immune system and help them fight some diseases. The same goes for us as believers. God also starts us with milk, and the moment we taste it, we also crave for it because it is the most delicious meal. Psalm34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. This milk is the Word of God. It is a pure spiritual and nourishing meal that we need for our growth, and when it is tasted, it makes you guide and preserve what you have jealously. Since it is a delicious meal, we tend to crave for it daily, which is an amazing experience, and due to its daily intake, it helps us to fight many battles of life either spiritually, physically, or emotionally etc.

A lot of people are facing problems today because they missed this fundamental meal. They were trying to grow without starting from the basics. You do not expect day-old babies to start eating meat without waiting until they have strong teeth. That is why we must go back to the scriptures because the Word of God always nourishes our bodies. Hebrews5:14- But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. We need to feed on it, so as to distinguish good from evil continually. We grow into solid food as physical children, so it is with baby Christians. We should live as children desiring to go back to the yummy meals. 1Corinthians3:2- I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. I urge you to make the Word of God a meal that will help you grow and abide with as God's own baby so that you will not end up spiritually malnourished.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Oh Lord, may I experience the taste and sweetness of this word so that I will always go back to drink and eat from it, in Jesus name.

2.Father, take me back to the hunger of your word for my satisfaction and progressive growth in Jesus name.

ACTION QUOTE: Have you charged your spiritual life today even as you have fed your body?
