Text: 2 Chronicles 20:12 (KJV)
O our God, wilt thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do; but our eyes are upon thee.
In the situations of life we are faced with, we should learn to inquire from the Lord constantly. When our faith is small (or should I say tested) and we want to give up, where do we look up to? Is your hope on the hills or in the creator of the universe? It is the nature of man to run to God at difficult moments, but it is the wrong time to look up to God rather, it should be our way of life to inquire and depend on God for His directions daily. To confidently declare like Jehoshaphat “this battle is not yours”, we must know the God of the battle. It is a covenant deal that should be signed when all is well. It is not always easy to run to the leading of the Lord at the center of the battles, but we should have a firm mind of determination to avoid conflict of action, because we are always confronted with confusion on the direction to look up to at all times. It is in the midst of the challenge that your commitment is being tested. You might not remember God at that thickest moment because several alternatives are presented as a way of escape, but most times, they have their errors without you seeing it because you are under pressure.
David said my eyes are upon the Lord for He will rescue my feet from the traps and nets of my enemies. God is online 24/7 and no network failure at all. There are dangers on the journey of life which are secret to us but are not hidden from God. We are able to overcome those big and little crises because of the big God that we are focused on and we should continue to seek His face. I Adversities in life are to make you or mare you but where do you look to? Unpleasant situations happen without prior signals, but we need to be ready to stand out in the face of challenges. Your confidence in a matter is based on the knowledge and exposure you have on that subject. You cannot fix your eyes on a God you do not have knowledge about. There is every need to have personal experience of His faithfulness in those little issues around you. If you can proof Him reliable on that very concern now, you can trust Him on the bigger issue. You can grow your trust on Him over time. He doesn’t change but we need to turn our attention to Him. He is constant but we are the variables. You can’t be convinced about Him, if there is no genuine encounter.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Oh Lord, may we remember the victories of the battles of yesterday to continue to fix our eyes unto Him on the current situation, in Jesus name.
2. Oh Lord, help us to stand firm in you and not to follow the multitude of alternatives present at the time of difficulty, in Jesus name.
3. Father, give us calmness to stand in your presence and seek the right way from your Word, in Jesus name.
Action Quote: Can we make one eye look down and the other eye look up? So avoid distractions.
