Drive away thorns and gods

 

Text: Judges 2:3(KJV)

Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

Friends, in our world today, we may not necessarily see physical thorns and gods against us that can stand as a distraction. But, it is important we identify our challenges which ranges from physical to spiritual, and deal with them as we drive them away before they bring shame and separation from our God. God always warns us to drive away the thorns just like he did to the children of Isreal because they did not fully obey His voice. He instructed them that they should make no league with the inhabitants of the land rather they should throw down the altars. But, they disobeyed and followed their own way. Deuteronomy 11:16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them.

Amazingly, there are false gods and forces today that have become a snare to us and indeed they are spiritual principles that we must deal with as believers if we must enjoy our inheritance in this kingdom. They can be idols and resistance that are contrary to God’s will and divine agenda. Hence, we must guide against them as to pursue our purpose in life. Proverbs 29:25 – "The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe. They can be ungodly influences or idols in our hearts causing pains in our lives and the society at large. They have made us to compromise our full alignment to the will of God. But, I pray we shall get fully devoted to the almighty by His mercy today in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT:

1. Father, remove everything that has taken the place of God in our hearts, which has made us not to live to serve and obey the living God in Jesus name.
