Abide to remain in Him

 

Text: John 15:4-5 (KJV)

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

 

Friends, our master Jesus is like the life of a vine where all the branches draw strength and nutrients for their existence. Therefore, as believers we share from the vine as well as we receive spiritual nourishment from Him. Paul declaring that to live or die is gain as long as it is attached to Christ. 1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. Hence, we must live an uninterrupted communion with Christ as we hunger in this journey with the Spirit of God. It is a conscious experience as the fruits of spirit - love, joy, kindness begins to find expression daily as we remain in Him. John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

 

Interestingly, we are in Christ by faith as we are wrapped with him like the root, stem, branch, leaves and fruits of a plant that are inseparable from the source. Christ who is our vine is not limited and we can only be limited if we are not dwelling constantly in Him. Philippians 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. So, all that Christ has become ours by inheritance because all our needs are supplied from the master of the universe. And, as our soul is knitted with Christ and so Christ is for us at all times. Therefore, the secret to ever flowing benefit is by abiding in Christ and remaining with Him in fellowship and fruitfulness. And as many that are cut off, will no longer bear more fruits.  Therefore, our responsibility is never to live outside Christ as to continually enjoy the blessings. I encourage us to apply His words in obedience and it will show in our WILLS and CHOICES because Christ is everything that we live for in Jesus name.

Oh Lord help us to remain in union with Christ, as we abide in His ways by an enduring communion with Him in Jesus name.
