Think the needful

 

Text: Philippians 4:8 (KJV)

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Our text of today is encouraging us to cultivate a new attitude as to properly handle the troubles and the issue of life which we face daily. Proverb 4:23 MSG. Keep vigilant watch over your heart that’s where life starts. It came to us as a precious gift.  We need to adjust our minds to the things which are of good and useful report. Learn to trash negative news for the good to enter and take hold of us.  Let us also filter the multitudes of stories and reports we hear, so as to engage our minds with the right things. And we should try not to overload or overwork our minds with filthy things because the things which are characterized as pure are always in scarcity. Job 3:25- For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. So, be intentional to surround your minds with right minded people as a way to build up right living.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of uncertainties which we occupy our minds with on a daily basis, but instead, we should learn to think and put into practice things which are praiseful and not the curse. It is an attitude we should intentionally develop, so as to keep our minds with useful reports, despite the several negative reports flying around the media and society at large. Luke 21:26- Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. I pray we receive the grace to guide our hearts diligently and our heart shall not fail us in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT:

1) Father, help us to occupy our minds with godly virtues as to spread good reports in Jesus name.
