Text: 2 Kings
6:5 (KJV)
But as
one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and
said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
Atime came when the company of the sons of the
prophets, which resembles us, Christian believers of today, went to Elisha with
a desire for an enlargement and that is similar to us going to seek the face of
God concerning a matter. I know all of us have various reasons for seeking the
face of God, but we all have one thing in common and that is an expectation for
a recovery or for a restoration, and we saw an example in our text of today. We
see that the first thing they did was they asked for counsel and this is one
thing we fail to do. 2 Kings 6:3 (ESV) - Then one of them said, “Be pleased to go with your
servants.” And he answered, “I will go.”And we see further down they encountered a situation with the axe head
falling into the water and this tells us there is no miracle our God cannot
perform. Remember, they were on the
right assignment with a host of angels walking with them, but they had the
desire to step out for greener pasture. They had the wisdom to enquire from the
man of God, Elisha, and they requested for his prayers were answered and not
only that they still wanted him to follow them, which is teaching us the idea
of fellowship and communion in any environment we find ourselves.
Certain times, the situation we are going through
seems ineffective and completely frustrating. Sometimes, it looks dead, but
relax because they are coming back to live today and this is going to led to
the outbreak of the supernatural even in an impossible issue. Luke 18:27- And he
said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.Them losing the axe head made all effort useless,
but thank God for his presence, because he went with them without them knowing
what will befall them on their way during that trip. This is why we need to
always seek the face of God before we embark on any journey and we should
always remember to do that.
