Needful things only

 

Text: Luke 10:40-42.

Verse- And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things; but one thing is needful; and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Mary and Martha serving the Lord with zeal and capacity was faced with a vital decision. But Mary decided on the needful as at the moment. I encourage us to sit and digest our plans for optimal result.  And the Master commended on her right choice of preference - she has taken the good part and it shall not be taken from her. Martha was distracted and worried about many things, but Mary sat at the feet of Jesus to learn the needful. Therefore, you must have a scale of priority in making decisions and serving to fulfill destiny. We have opportunities to make a decision even now but the question is how decisive are you to look up to the Master and not the environment as to take the needful decision? 

 Amazingly, we get ourselves worked up over everything without knowing that JUST ONE THING IS NEEDFUL per time, which is the main course.  One should not be too busy without evidence of results. The question we must always throw to ourselves is – where or what will I invest my energy and resource now and which one later to avoid regrets?  Let us learn to invest in the current need, and plan to project for the future accordingly. Remember, we must have a sincere assessment as a catalyst for a better decision. There are still weightier matters in any field and until we go through the right process, we will be beating about the bush. Math23:23b …. and you have neglected the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith, but do not neglect the more important things. There is need to develop the priority selection rule in delivering your day to day assignment. Do not neglect the first activity and take it to the last by reason of right scale of preference, so you will not be cumbered with issues of concern and regrets without the best choice of action at the end. You can tag important and urgent matters, also important but not urgent for right selection. Martha was busy with food and serving Jesus but that was not essential at the moment. Therefore, decide on the needful today and you will achieve faster in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINTS:

1.Oh Lord may I focused on the needful that will attract eternal commendation in Jesus name.

2.Father help me not to waste my energy but to invest it appropriately to the glory of God in Jesus name.
