Text: 1 Peter 2:6-7 (KJV)
Wherefore also it is
contained in the scripture, Behold I lay in Sion a chief cornerstone, elect,
precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you
therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the
stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner.
I heard a testimony of a sister. Her lecturer made her
have an extra year in university all because she rejected his offer, but thanks
to God, she finally graduated and got a good job. On one faithful day, she was
meant to interview people for a job, and the candidate that walked in was this
same lecturer. As God would have it, she became her lecturer’s boss, and he has
to work under her.
The truth about life is that we do not normally see or accept the beauty
of any product or a thing at first sight. We usually condemn it, but the truth
is its content and glory is always hidden. In our text of today, the stone
which the builders rejected ended up becoming the chief cornerstone, and this
is because they did not see the beauty at that initial time. The same goes for
gold, it usually does not look beautiful when it comes out from the mine, but
after severe processes, it becomes so beautiful, and we end up wanting to buy
or have it. Frankly speaking, it is normal to get rejected, but it is not good
to dwell on that rejection because there is a hidden beauty that is about to
show forth, so embrace it. Psalms 118:22- The stone
which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. We,
as God’s children, are chosen and elected by Him and are precious to Him too,
so I urge you not to get frustrated or depressed because of the world’s
rejection. We need to change our mindset because that old mindset is just
making us not to see the hidden gift and content that we have. Matthew 21:42- Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in
the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the
head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing and is marvelous in our eyes?
The question is who is the cornerstone
of your building? The term cornerstone can be referred to as a “foundation
stone,” and the amazing part is that Christ is the cornerstone of our building
as God’s children, so we should enjoy the solid foundation that we have. He is
part of our existence, so we should use that privilege. He was also rejected at
the beginning, but today we cannot do or live without Him; so I urge you not to
feel ashamed when the world rejects you, but instead be happy, because they
have not seen your hidden gift and that gift that you have is needed there. By
doing that, people will give you your deserved standing ovation and will
glorify God for your life. John 1:3- All things were
made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. I tell
you, you can no longer suffer rejection or disapproval because you have Him.
Remember, JESUS IS OUR CHIEF CORNERSTONE, and this cornerstone is reliable. So
stay plugged to this great cornerstone in Jesus name.
1.Father, help us to put our firm foundation on God and not
on our own agenda to avoid rejection, in Jesus name.
2. Father, because we are knitted in Christ, I reverse any
form of rejection over my life in Jesus name.
