Text: Zechariah 4:10 (KJV)
For who hath despised the day of small things?
for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel
with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through
the whole earth.
Friends, many people desire great results, but not everyone
appreciates the small beginnings that often precede them. We want visible
progress, quick achievements, and immediate recognition. When these things do
not happen, we may become discouraged and conclude that our efforts are
insignificant. Job 8:7 - Though thy beginning was
small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. But God encourages us not to despise the day
of small things. So, we should not measure the importance of a beginning by how
impressive it appears. A small act of obedience, a little progress in our
spiritual life, a modest business, or a simple opportunity to serve can become
part of something greater. So, don’t despise the little things. Luke 16:10 - He that is faithful in that which is least
is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in
much.
Amazingly, David began by caring for sheep before he became
king. Joseph went through seasons of service and hardship before he entered the
position God had prepared for him. Matthew 25:21 - His
lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been
faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou
into the joy of thy lord. Their
journeys remind us that preparation and growth often take place before public
recognition. Then, do not abandon what God has placed in your hands simply
because it has not yet become what you envisioned. But, be faithful, keep
learning, and improve what you can today.
Remember, small beginnings are not a reason for shame; they are an
opportunity to practice faithfulness and prepare for greater responsibilities.
And God will help us as we rejoice in the little in Jesus name
Prayer Point: Father, give me the grace to value the little You
have committed to me and help me to remain faithful in Your purpose for my life
in Jesus' name.
Action Quote: Friends, serving faithfully in the little things
is a key that can elevate you to new heights and prepare you for greater
responsibilities in the future.
