God's Plenteous Mercy

Happy New Month of August

Text: Psalm 103:8 (KJV)

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

Friends, welcome to the month of August which is plenteous in God’s mercy. Cheer up!  Hence one of the greatest assurances we have as believers is that God's mercy never runs dry. The scriptures above reveal the very heart of God: He is merciful, gracious, patient, and abundant in mercy. We have seen His mercy unlike human mercy, which is often limited by emotions or circumstances, God's mercy is inexhaustible. Therefore, no matter how many times we stumble, when we genuinely repent and turn to Him, His mercy is always available to forgive, restore, and strengthen us even in this new month. Lamentations 3:22–23 declares, "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." Therefore, every new day in this season is a fresh reminder that God's compassion is greater than our failures, and His faithfulness never changes.

Interestingly, God's plenteous mercy does more than forgive our sins; it restores our hope, renews our strength, and gives us another opportunity to fulfil His purpose. Throughout the Scriptures, we see God extending mercy to people who had failed, fallen, or wandered away from Him. David found mercy, we shall find too, Peter also enjoyed mercy even after denying Christ, and the prodigal son was welcomed home and embrace by his father. There is enough of His mercy this month. Likewise, Hebrews 4:16 encourages us to "come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." God's mercy is never exhausted, and His grace is always sufficient for those who seek Him with sincere hearts. I encourage us to be confident of His plenteous mercy as He is able to forgive, sustain us through the month in Jesus Christ.

Prayer Point:

Oh Lord, thank You for Your plenteous mercy. Let Your mercy speak for me, restore and lead me into the fullness of Your purpose in the month of August, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Action Quote: Remember, God's mercy is greater than your greatest failure and abundant enough to give you a brand-new beginning.
