Become Rich in Love

 

Text: Ephesians 2:4–5 (KJV)

-4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, -5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Friends, in a world where people often measure wealth by possessions, achievements, or status, God invites us to pursue a greater kind of richness, the richness of His love. The scripture above revealed it to us that our God is rich in mercy even when we are separated by sin, He did not abandon us to perish. Instead, He reached out through Jesus Christ, offering forgiveness, new life, and the gift of salvation. God's love is not earned by our performance as His love overshadows our inadequacy. Indeed, it is freely given through His grace. Romans 5:8 reminds us, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  We must remember that His love is unconditional, sacrificial, and life-transforming and we must learn to show same to others. Hence, when we are rich in love we choose to forgive quickly, serve willingly, speak kindly, and show compassion to those around you.

Interestingly, God does not only want us to receive His love, He calls us to become rich in love ourselves. A heart filled with God's love overflows with compassion, forgiveness, kindness, generosity, and genuine concern for others. Colossians 3:14 says, "And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness." Likewise, 1 John 4:7–8 teaches that those who know God will love others because God is love. So, as we grow in our relationship with Christ, His love changes our attitudes, heals our relationships, and enables us to reflect His character in our homes, workplaces, churches, and communities. Therefore, true spiritual maturity is not measured by how much we know, but by how deeply we love. I encourage us today to intentionally become rich in love by spending time in God's presence and allowing His Spirit to shape our hearts today in Jesus name.

Prayer Point:

Oh Lord, thank You for loving me with an everlasting love. Fill my heart with Your compassion and help me to become rich in love, showing kindness, forgiveness, and grace to everyone as to reflect Christ in Jesus name.
