The Apostle’s Doctrine

Text: Acts2:42 (KJV)

But they continued steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread and in prayers.

Have you ever realized after you give your life to Christ there is a new life style a believer is suppose to live. That is called the apostle’s doctrine. This is the way of life a matured believer is expected to live as you grow out of milk and baby lifestyle. 1Peter2:2 As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.  We cannot remain baby Christian.  Apostle’s doctrine is a life that is not lived once a while but it is a continous way of life with God’s pattern. Apostle is from the greek word apostello meaning a messenger or one sent by GOD on a mission. While a disciple, is a devoted student like an apprentice under someone as a learner from a teacher. The greek word of disciple is mathètès. Please let’s find our place in the life chain of God’s doctrine for effective kingdom service.

Interestingly, though the apostles are also designated as the disciples but we can relate them as a higher disciples. They are Gods messengers who accomplish special missions in the body of Christ. You don’t just wake up one day and decide to become an apostle or send yourself. Galatian1:1 Paul an apostle (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the father, who raised him from the dead) An apostle have special duty as they lay the foundation of God’s kingdom by building on grace. The apostles are God’s sent one. Apostles clarify foundational doctrines. They preach the message as led by the Holy Ghost. They are like visionaries that recognize theological trends that could harm the church.  If they fail, it weakens the church because the whole weight of the church does not fall on one arm of the five fold ministry like the Pastor. They help to re-habitate a church that is frustrated to restore unity. You don’t go if not sent as an apostle, if not they will go on the works of the flesh. Sadly, leaders fear apostle’s that they will overtake the church when allowed to use God’s power so they set man made boundaries. Most time church doesn’t recognize their calling but God does. So identify your God ordained area of calling today.  They can’t be in a church that lack faith and drift away from biblical truths rather they reveal what Christ wants to do and God’s heart beat to the body of Christ. They provide a framework that keeps the church healthy.  They should be patient for others to accept their calling as an apostle because they need to hear from God. The church needs the apostles for sound doctrine, they help to discipline leaders and bring wholeness to church. They are entrusted by Christ to help organize the church as they live a life of continual fellowship, communion together with bread, constant prayers etc 1Chron.16:11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek the his face continually.  It is in this lifestyle that as an apostle begins to do sign and wonders. They were characterized with one accord in the temple and they enjoyed eating the meat of the word with gladness and singleness of heart. I encourage you to remember that you are Gods representative in that your corner in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINTS:

Oh Lord, please help our calling to find fulfillment despite the persecutions around in Jesus name.

Father, may the apostolic life style be steady and unmovable in this generation in Jesus name.
